anna ash & the family tree

About Me

all we need to know is that anna ash is a not far off cousin of the yellowbird. she flies & sings, flies & sings, inching out her wingspan every time her ears pick up the sounds of autoharps and ella fitzgerald. with a lullaby of a voice she takes stringed instruments and mingles them with a smidgen of soul and a tad pinch of a shimmy and a twang.
in the middle of somewhere that’s not on the edge, the middle of something that’s utterly endearing and delightful anna sits amongst all of the things that could sound like sophisticated birthday parties of five-year-old girls. at these elegant, yet barefoot birthday parties there are plenty of cupcakes with the right colored sprinkles, but also just enough side tables with lemonade that may or may not be spiked with things to make all the guests dizzy. any of the yellowbirds perched up in the backyard trees above the birthday party that heard her & her voice, which was probably coming from the kitchen-colored radio, would wonder which one of their cousins finally got captured & heard. They would think that her, their probable cousin, was sensible and brave sounding…and then they would wonder where she got all of her friends who toe tap and pick and pluck with her.
