The original Freq Loop called it quits around August of 2008. I was soon practicing with two other groups but soon realized I needed to concentrate on just one.
The group I formed together with Larry Oakley and John Hernandez is now known as Ohm's Law (Oakley, Hernandez, Mein)
John plays bass and Larry is on drums and vocals while I am the primary vocalist and switch between guitar and keys. We had all played together before as members of Full Circle back in and around 2004.We've taken our performance to a professional level using computer sequencing (primarily MOTU Digital Performer on a MacBook Pro) for MIDI automation and backing tracks.
This kept us all hard at work for several months. Larry and John had to learn the songs that I know and do best while meanwhile I spent countless hours putting together song sequences to control our MIDI gear (lighting, synthesizers, vocal and guitar processors).
We were a bit shy of really being ready but went ahead and played our first gig at Baily's in Springville on 4-25 when the opportunity arose.
Overall we felt pretty good about how the gig went. People told us they enjoyed it, the owner called it a success, and we were promptly booked to play there again in June.
We need to continue with our practicing and I need to continue working on our sequences, finishing up some while tweaking others. I'd also like to rearrange our set list some and we have more songs we'd like to add. We will, in fact, always be doing these things!
We'll soon be looking to book this group into more local venues so watch for us in your favorite local print source and return here to view our calendar. Thanks for stopping by!
