ERICK BANDEIRA'S PLURALITY:ERICK BANDEIRA FIRMS HIMSELF AS AN ARTIST OF ALL THE POSSIBILITIES...Erick is an unquiet and irreverent person. His opinions about the word are expressed by his paintings and another artistic experiment, the so called "installations". Besides, he is musician, art and guitar teacher, and photographer.Erick is part of generation which has discovered itself in the world only after the end of Brazilian dictatorship, after the cold war, after the computer being considered as a second nature of the urban man. Erick is a citizen of the post modern era.To place him in this historic context, even superficially, it is necessary to comprehend his esthetical proposal. As painter, Erick goes from the most shameless abstractionism (although he say that is not abstract artist) to the most bizarre figurative symbolism. He does not places himself in any specific schools or styles. He belongs to all of them, and yet, to no one of them. He does not compromise to techniques or processes – he serves himself from any of them, when they are in concordance with his ideas.He owns works of great personality, and much originality, although to assume the influence of greats modern artists, like Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock and Hélio Oiticica. He has accomplished a sequence of paintings witch are just like pure Pollock. So what? He assumes the influence, and says he wanted to honor the north american artist. In the same way, he honors Hélio Oiticica mouting installations so called "oiticicanas". That is the way it is.Painter, musician, sculptor, photographer and perhaps he won't stop only doing all of these things. Erick Bandeira, bachelor in Fine Arts by the Institute of Arts of the Federal University of Goiás, has already exhibited his works in various and important art galleries, inclusively was invited to participate of 21 Biennial from Sao Paulo, he is the same who has accompanied Dave Wunder (american blues guitarist) in shows around the city in 1993. He's also the same who promotes some "interference" at the urban scenery. These "interference", which the 'volue critic' intends to give respectability, in reality, are only – and this is the fun of it – roguishness of artists with exuberant talents.In one of them, Erick had hanged in a post a traffic signal with the silhouette of a cow:He said, in interview to newspaper Diário da Manhã (October 29 th, 1995): "The sign, taken away from its origin position, and placed in an urban area, reflects a subjectivity which displaces its original intention of objective representation of a traffic signal". Artists intend to own this intricate kind of philosophy. But the legitimacy of the "interference" is not based only on this. It is also based on the effect that it makes on people, in its capacity of interference. It has got its intrinsic value which is assimilates intuitively be the passing-by. This kind of art is not put in exposition; the expectant is the one who stays exposed to it. Old conceits are subverted.The fact of risking related to making a theory about his creations only shows that Erick Bandeira is a syntonized person with post-modernity. All of nowadays society problems worry him. Through the art, he equates them. From this, it comes the dare of minister architectonic solutions to a better use of the urban space. He has invented the building with isolated floors. It is advisable to take a look at the picture, to understand it better. About his projects, the minimal that could be said about them is that they are curious.It doesn't matter if they are or no viable. Were the machines created by Leonardo da Vinci viable? Not all of them. What it matters is the spirit of the thing. It matters the audacity ant the daring. 'No!' to the specialists' empires. 'No!' at the exclusiveness of the knowing. The new generation wants to inhabit in all of the areas of the knowledge. Maybe they don't even know they are rescuing from the industrial era the humanistic ideal of the renaissance: the versatility as trivial virtue.HELVÉCIO CARDOSOJournalist - Option Newspaper – Goiânia/Go/Brazil(February 16 th, 1997)ERICK BANDEIRA is artist multimedia (visual artist and musician/guitarist), teacher, historian, researcher and cultural promoter. He was born in 1969, in the city of Goiânia, capital of the State of Goiás - Brazil. He is graduate in Fine Arts for UFG (1987 - 1991). Considered one of the most talented visual artists of the State, since 1990 it is working, producing and developing researches in the area of visual arts. He already produced more than 500 works, among paintings, drawings, objects, installations, architectural projects, videos, pictures and musical compositions. He took several improvement courses in the painting area and contemporary art with relevant brazilian visual artists, such like LÃgia Pape, Inimá de Paula, Ricardo Basbaum, Evandro Salles among others. In almost 20 years of artistic career, he already accomplished 25 individual exhibitions, participated in 08 competitions and 06 collective in Goias, Brasilia and Sao Paulo. Since 1993 he is giving private classes of drawing, painting and history of the art. In 2004 he supplied the workshop of "Contemporary Drawing" in the I Biennial of the Book of Goiás, event accomplished by the State General office of Education. He is member of the Associação Goiana of Visual Artists, having already participated of several seminars, lectures and debates promoted by that Association. In 2001 he had his project "The City" (exhibition multimedia) approved for the Ministry of the Culture and he participated of MUSIKAOS program (TV show) of TV Cultura from São Paulo, with a live presentation:He already wrote several texts about art and it develops a master's degree theory "the figuration in the abstraction". He promotes annually the music and art festival "For all the Tribes" in Goiânia/Go/Brasil. In 1991 he frequented the visual artist's Cleber Gouvea studio (one of the precursors of the modern art in Goiás, and his teacher). Parallel visual artist's activity, is musician composer and eletric guitar teacher. He began to give guitar classes in 1996. In 1997 he was integral of the band of hard rock SUNROAD and in 1998 he formed the TRANSE pop rock band: (www.myspace.com/bandatranse)Starting from then he organized and produced several shows of the band, solo presentations and with other bands, in the capital and in the interior. With patronage of the Municipal Law of Incentive to the Culture, he idealized, coordinated and produced the first Cd of the band TRANSE, with homonymous title. He was music teacher (eletric guitar) and coordinator of cultural presentations (music shows and exhibition of visual arts) in the School of Arts Veiga Valle /CEP in Arts Basileu França, in Goiânia (2002 - 2004). Actually he is accomplishing exhibitions of his works and making shows solo and with the band TRANSE.
