I am here for Friends

About Me

I'm a normal person who happens to be an optimistic cynical realist. Yeah, I know, oxy-moron.
I've finally bored myself with doing nothing. I don't have much to show for the last 5 years except an apartment full of stuff that I own, mostly; just a small amount of debt left. It's time to open the door and end an 18-year run of my couch potato status. Apparently I've been a "mouse potato" for 12 years...it's time to put an end to that, too.
I've done a great deal of research into the history of the Bible, and trying to find out what really happened. I haven't done much in the last 10 years, but there are some things that I do know didn't happen the way everyone believes.
I have a friend who believes Noah built the ark in the Mediterranean Basin. He thinks there was a huge dam at the Strait of Gibraltar, and a very large storm came and filled it up, flooding the "world" and breaking the dam. At the time, the world to them WAS the Mediterranean Basin, and that tiny ark (it was smaller than modern day Aircraft Carriers) wasn't big enough to house EVERY living creature that existed at the time. Even if it WERE true, there is no way all the different insects, dogs and cats we have today were on that ark. Christians and Jews EVERYWHERE would have to give way to the theory of Evolution if they believe that the ENTIRE EARTH were actually flooded. Oh yeah what's with all the houses from 2000 years ago only having a ceiling of 4-6 feet? It's no wonder Goliath, at 9 feet, was a giant. Evolution, maybe. I'm not saying we were hunched over monkeys, but we definitely used to be shorter. Heck, even Egyptian hieroglyphics depict upright humans, and they were drawn around 4000+ years ago.
"If faith is blindly placed in something that you KNOW isn't real, then what is it worth?" --I don't know why I put that in quotes, but you can say it came from me.

My Interests

Geology, Geography, Genealogy, Astronomy, Oceanography, Volcanology, Mineralogy, Bicycle riding, Hiking, Math, Computers, Programming, Electronics, Studying Revelations (Christian Bible)... just to name a few of the various phases I've gone through... Lately, I haven't been doing much, but I'm game for almost anything.

I'd like to meet:

New friends....???

Someone to spend time with...who enjoys my company.

Music:

Country, Christian Rock, Alternative Rock, some Rap and Hip/Hop, R&B, Soul, Oldies, Soft Rock...few others... Heavy Metal is the only one that I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT like. If I can't understand the words, then it's not a song I'd like.

Movies:

Waaay too many to list (I own over 500 titles). Some of my best favorites: Donnie Darko, Saw (1-3), The American President, American Beauty, The Game, Brainscan, Cube (1-3)

Television:

House, Grey's Anatomy, Prison Break, Smallville, Ghost Whisperer, Family Guy, American Dad, Psych, Monk

Books:

Haven't read much...The Indian in the Cupboard trilogy, My Side of the Mountain, On the Far Side of the Mountain, Tom Sawyer, The Picture of Dorian Gray, The Pearl, Lord of the Flies, Sounder

Heroes:

My brother, Rob. He's 5 years older than me. He's been run over by a car when he was 3 by a drunk driver, in a coma, supposed to be a vegetable, but woke up after 3 months, talked, walked, went to school, taught me how to read when I was 4, graduated high school and even started some college, drives a car, has had more girlfriends and fiancés than me, hasn't a care in the world who has a negative opinion about him, outgoing, caring, loving, and is probably the most ambitious and scripture-loving Christian you'll ever meet. Heck, he even writes his own Christian Raps!

My Blog

Spiders suck.  For some reason, my apartment attracts spiders.  I keep the place clean, mostly anyway.  I even have an electronic, ultrasonic, electromagnetic thingy that is supposed to...

Scary Movies

I really don't scare all that easily when I'm watching movies, as I've seen so many, that I can usually predict what's going to happen.  In fact, the last time I genuinely felt scared while watch...

Memories of blackouts and why Alcohol sucks

Alcohol just plain sucks.  I'm the kind of guy that likes to take the edge off every now and then, but sometimes in an effort to "fit in" I tend to let it get to the point that I can't say no to ...

The truth is...

When it comes to matters of the heart, there is no right answer.  There is no right course of action.  Everyone is different, but one thing stays the same, love.  Dif...
