About Me

Can we agree more money is a good thing? Then check out my sites: www.harborviewinc.info www.attractingsuccess4u.com Babel Fish Translation available at http://world.altavista.com/tr (Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, Dutch, Russian, and more) Music In New York in 1969 Kevin Bowser started playing bass guitar in his first working rock band. As he likes to say, "I didn't go to my Prom, I played it." Playing cover tunes from the Rolling Stones, Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, to name a few he was hooked on music and performing for good. While in attending college at NCCU, in 1974 he joined a working Soul / R&B band, behind a 4 man singing group. After playing cover tunes from the Stylistics, Ojays, Blue Magic, Temptations, Blackbyrds, Kool & The Gang, Dazz Band, Mandrill, Earth Wind & Fire, Chicago, the group progressed to also doing original material. In 1977 he joined the Navy and started teaching himself how to play the guitar and soon started to sing. This resulted in him playing primarily as a solo performer for the next 10 years. He explored folk, rock, pop, latin, original tunes and played cover tunes from Michael Franks, Stevie Wonder, Sting, America, Jim Croce, Jobim, Kenny Rankin, John Cougar, Led Zeplin, to name a few more. In 1985 joined a St. Louis band, Metropolitan Jazz Rock Orchestra, that played primarily original jazz fusion. A couple of years later he joined a duo and focused on playing latin based pop and jazz. After landing a two year gig with another duo Kevin put down the guitar and focused on singing standards. In 1993 Kevin Bowser joined the group Visions Jazz, as the vocalist and became a key part of the band’s signature sound. Prior to that Kevin honed his vocal skills by sitting in at piano bars and jazz groups from coast to coast in the mid 1980s and early 1990s. The rich tone of his unique and expressive voice is a treat for all listeners, whether they are jazz fans or not. Although influenced by artists such as Frank Sinatra, Dexter Gordon, Ella Fitzgerald, Johnny Hartman, Mel Torme, Sarah Vaughn, John Coltrane, Michael Franks, Al Jareau and others, Kevin’s vocal style is, without question, all his own. Although still a part time member of Visions Jazz, Kevin has begun to work under his own name, hence The Kevin Bowser Group.
