After success in the popular rap group New Born Gangstas, Humble, TX (Houston/Screwton, TX.) based rapper Caloso a*k*a BMD finally decided to go solo. He was with the group thing for four years and like a butterfly emerging from a cocoon, it was his time. He spread his wings, caught the wind, and has been steadily flying high. The colorful concepts and graceful lyrical delivery, you can tell he learned a hell of a lot, the caterpillar incubated in the company of many and longed for a change and has definitely made a power move in the positive direction.
Caloso has been beating on the Hip Hop door, for some ten years. Though he has had his ups and downs, he continues to press forward, with great ambition. Throughout his career he has worked with the likes of Juve, Lil Flip, David Banner, Young Buck, Southern Playas(Ray Kane),Money Black, Rawl’T, Angell, Mob Front, Hitchman Click, just to name a few.
Caloso biggest success to date was his 2002 release ‘Summertime’ on indie label Music Vibe Entertainment. With over 200,000 copies sold and held the #1 song slot ‘Nasty Girl’’ featuring Juve, Angell, Lil Kano, Papa Reu for seven weeks on LA Hot 104 The Beat. Caloso has yet to get the break he is working patiently toward.
After the feds seized and close down Music Vibe Entertainment in 2003 Caloso at the time BMD was forced back to ground zero. Not only was he without a record deal he was also order to change his name due to the involvement associated with the federal indictment of Music Vibe Entertainment. Now without a name or record company to call home BMD went back to the drawing board. By the summer of 2004 BMD name change to Caloso and created his own indie label Money Pro Entertainment. Caloso is currently working with Toni Tru CEO of T.Rocc Records .However don’t show no pity or sleep on this dude,because when the smoke all clear H-TOWN will definably be proud on how Caloso rep for the Dirty South.
I guess you wonder how Caloso can be compared to a whimsically beautiful butterfly and still represent the lowdown ‘’Dirty South’’. Do not be fooled! It is easy to see butterfly is defined in many ways. It can be a brightly colored insect, a person preoccupied with the pursuit of pleasure, to break something down totally from the center almost cutting it in half, like a shrimp, and a feeling of nervousness or anxious anticipation. Put all of these definitions together and you can understand the concept.
