Old Cemetery was formed in 2003 in Calgary,Alberta under the name Black Masses.The founder was Lord Lunatic of the night, who wrote all the lyrics and was the singer/drummer.With help from session musician's the band struggled because of not being able to find serious members that were truly into the black arts. As a two man anti-social black metal band, a demo titled Blizzard Cemetery Chaos was released in 2006. The Blizzard Cemetery Chaos era was all about anarchy,Satan and was a time of barbed wire,self solitary confinement,and mutilation.This happened between late Summer 2005 and lasted until late Summer 2006.The band got a lot of it's inspiration from true black metal and the instability at the time in the members life's.During this time when the the band was not rehearsing or colaberating on ideas, time was spent walking alone(or together)in the woods,showing up at church's during masses in progress,and hanging around many cemetery's at night. Rituals and other acts against humanity or to themselves to horrible to even mention also occurred.Old Cemetery broke up in early 2008 due to the circumstances of then turning into a long distance recording project,more then a band permanently. The ongoing personal problems of Setharious was also another major factor. Today,as of November 2008,the artist known as Setharious works at a funeral home. The founder now plays Frozen In Purgatory. Anything and everything ever created with Old Cemetery was burned in personal ritual by the founder Lord Lunatic.
