ONESIDE ZERO:
Onesidezero’s self-titled sophomore CD is set for release on June 5th. The long awaited follow-up to the band’s critically acclaimed 2001 debut Is This Room Getting Smaller features 13 tracks that showcase the band’s maturity as songwriters and musicians.
A lot has happened to the band in the six years between CDs. Onesidezero disbanded in 2003 after touring for two years with the likes of Incubus, 311, Static-X, and Soulfly. Various side projects followed with the band re-uniting in late 2004. Onesidezero toured thoughout 2005 and 2006 while writing and recording the new disc with producer Ulrich Wild (Taproot, Static-X). In November 2006, the band signed with Corporate Punishment Records.
The members of onesidezero – Jasan Radford (vocals/guitar); Levon Sultanian (guitar); Cristian Hernandez (bass); Rob Basile (drums) all agree this disc is a culmination of the experiences of the last few years both musically and personal. It’s harder, raw and packs a potent one-two-punch of deep lyrics backed by heavier power chords and a killer rhythm section.
“We feel this record represents where we are now in life and music,†said Jasan Radford.
Longtime fans of Onesidezero will not be disappointed as the band still delivers their signature sound while some tracks are sure to appeal to new fans who appreciate a more harder edge.
“This time around I went back to my roots as far as songwriting. Back to the metal, classical, blues and all the good stuff my parents raised me on,†says Levon Sultanian. “Our old fans will still feel the classic Onesidezero vibe yet we will be reaching out to wider audiences as well.â€
The first two singles off the new release include “My Confessions†and “Sleep.†Both tracks are available for download on the Onesidezero Myspace page at www.myspace.com/ onesidezero. Other standout tracks include “Blondevil†and ‘Who Will Stop The Rain?†“We have songs about current affairs and politics – “Carry Your Gun†and “Trickassho’. We have love songs like “Levitation†and “Carry Us Away,†and we have the good ol’ f**k you songs,†says Sultanian.
Recorded at UnderCity Recordings in North Hollywood, CA, Onesidezero is about life experiences and where those experiences take you. “The difference between this record and our last is time, we are all in very different places in our lives and if there is a message here, it’s life happens,†says Radford.
