The witch was saying it wasn't good for the washing machine. Voodoo Dollyanna hitched up her skirt anyway. You couldn't see it all cos the reflection of the moon was distracting, a yellow crescent smile leering in the sky. The witch opened the fridge, ketamine had soured the milk again so she turned, saluted the tiles and made her usual speech about nobbing lee vush of murk.
The cat jumped off the bunker just before a glass of cherry wine smashed off the stone floor. The witches stocking caught on the tea towel nail as she turned an' swore at her reflection in the window. She ripped her stocking away from the nail an' hanging there was the gun, swinging slow from left to right.
In My Dream
The gypsy girl
thunders by on a runaway rocking horse,
her mustachio'd cigarettes twitch
quit nicotine, refuse matches.
In Montreal the whisper
Menage a trois, si vou plait?
I hear this as they lay her casket
in frozen ground, branches stripped bare
no leaves or mulch to feed the soil,
grey sky ignores my anthracite eyes,
torn tresses by the gravestone
flutter in the breeze.
(A poem from Urchin Belle)
