About Me

Making music through song and instruments has always been a natural part of my life. I've performed solo or with ensembles in Sydney, Brisbane and Barcelona and have lent my voice to numerous theatre productions. In recent years my interest shifted to Jazz and Latin Jazz favouring swing and the tunes of Johnny Mercer or the soft rhythms of Bossa Nova. In addition i've started working on my own compositions with a more experimental vocal sound, influenced i guess by my background in classical voice and violin.

My work in theatrical management and production takes me around the world (which at the moment doesn't leave much time to perform). I am mostly found in Europe or Australia when not touring as Company Manager for Soweto Gospel Choir. Vienna, Barcelona & Brisbane are my favourite places to hide between travel.

The demo tunes you find here are covers of Leondard Cohen's 'Dance Me' and Smoke City's 'With You' so you can sample my bossa and swing sound.

The guitarist who worked with me is the lovely & talented Jose Zarb. To listen to his inspiring and honest music (and to hear me backing a few songs) see the link above. Thank you Josie xxxx

Elis Regina, Rosa Passos, Sergio Mendes, Johnny Mercer, Billie Holiday, Julie London are the first to come to mind. I saw the amazing Vanda Sá in Sydney with Marcos Valle, Joao Donato & Roberto Menescal - wow! but the most influential are those closest to me, my family and friends who support, encourage or work with me on my music
