Welcome to the MySpace of the Dutch Joe Satriani tribute band Time Machine.
Time Machine was founded at the end of 1997.
Guitarist and founder Marcel Coenen (known from bands like Sun Caged , Stormrider and formerly Lemur Voice) always enjoyed playing Joe's songs, and wanted to play a tribute gig to Joe Satriani.
Marcel contacted some musicians and the first Time Machine line-up was a fact. The first lineup consisted of the following people amongst Marcel: Erwin Gielen - Drums, Jörgen Verhaeren - Guitar and Johan Volman - Bassguitar.
With this line up the band did some succesful gigs in 1998, like as support act for the famous guitarist Tony MacAlpine in the well known club "Biebob" in Vosselaar, Belgium.
Drummer Erwin Gielen left the band at the end of 1998 due to some time issues, and the band got drummer Luc Peters (ex-Wicked Wonderland) to play with them. With Luc the band did some more gigs during 1998 and 1999.
In the beginning of 2000 guitarist Jörgen had to quit the band since he moved to a different city and therefore had no time anymore to play with the band. Also bassist Johan had to quit the band for health issues.
After this the band got silent for a year, but Marcel still got some offers to play with Time Machine. Marcel decided to ask his bandmates in the band Sun Caged at the time to do the gigs. Then the band was consisting out of these people amongst Marcel: Joost Van Den Broek (After Forever, ex-Sun Caged) - Keyboards, Rob Van Der Loo - Bassguitar and Dennis Leeflang (ex-Sun Caged) - Drums. The band again did some very cool gigs, like headlining the Ur-Pop festival in Urmond (The Netherlands) for 4500 people and on the Shredfest festival in Rotterdam, together with artists like Bumblefoot (Ron Thal) and Philippe Thibaut.
The band then got silent again because of the success of the band Sun Caged and other activities, but Marcel again got offers to play with Time Machine. Because Sun Caged was also going through changes Marcel decided to search for other musicians for the band, to stabilize the line up.
Marcel found three members in the beginning of 2004: Björn Koenen - Guitar, Hans In 'T Zandt (Vengeance, Chinawhite, Parris, Cooper Inc) - Drums and Richard Ritterbeeks (Jessy Galante, ex-Volumia!, ex-The Crox) - Bassguitar.
This lineup is also the current line up of the band and is a stable line up. The band can play a long set of Joe Satriani classics.
The band is now sounding better then ever, and guarantees a night not to forget when you book Time Machine !
