About Me

Errol "The Skippa" Blackwood was born in the Accompong (Maroon) Hills of Jamaica: He migrated to Toronto Canada and became a musician: he played at various clubs in Ontario performing a mixture of Reggae, R&B and Rock music. His music is an influence of Jamaican folk song (digging songs) gospel music, country and funk.

In 1980, Errol formed a band named, Messenjah, along with Ray Ruddock and Rupert Harvey: they recorded two albums and a video under the WEA record label. They toured extensively for five years across Canada and the USA. The band regrouped in 1986. Highlights included working with Hugh Masekela, The Clash, Frank Zappa and playing Reggae Sun splash.

In 1988 Errol began his solo career with the release with his four songs EP titled "Chant Chant" and a video titled "Special Effect", followed by albums "Waking Up the Dream" (1995), "Roots & Lovers Collection" (2000), "Rastaman Say" (2003) and "Family Tree" (2007).

He composed and produced the themesong for the worlds first ever online-crime-series "Paradise Island", which is produced by Austrian foundation 4motion and production company Visual Kings.
