About Me

The Captives began in September 06, Writing and recording music. They played their first gig months later in Brighouse, winning a battle of the bands and recording time in a leeds based studio, the Soundmill.Since then the Captives have gone on to record 8 songs, make a televised appearance on Propeller TV. They are at the moment playing venues in leeds, halifax, huddersfield, bradford and sheffield, also busking randomly anywhere and everywhere they can. They are currently in the process of writing more material, which will be released soon.

Band Members: Stephen Haigh = lead Singer / Rhythm Guitar/nice teeth

Jim Ker = Lead Guitar / Backing Vocals/big bushy beard!

Michael Smith = Bass / Good Looks
Influences: We've got quite a diverse taste in music in the band and since i like my abililty to use my fingers we wont try to list them all, apart from JAMES BROWN haha.

We're also influenced by other more local bands weve played with in the past, and experiences of seeing bands live, like for example the first time we saw kings of leon we got back and wrote a song with that kind of edge to it: and sometimes our music comes out of nothing, just a few beats on a snare like broth. it depends on timing and mood i suppose, and the fact that when your in a band where you can pick up your guitar and play or practice for hours, just improvising or trying new ideas, and still able to get up and feel like this is what you want to do the next day, and that the band has a future, is definately our biggest influence. determination, and your best mates. DOES THIS NOT SOUND LIKE AN ADVERT FOR HAIR CREAM?
Sounds Like: The result of an orgy between Queens of the Stone age, Kings of Leon, marvin gaye and the backstreet boys. mmm orgies...
