MIKEY BUSTOS captivates audiences with his energy, lyrics, performance and passion. Mikey’s journey commenced at the very early age of 5 with appearances on various TV commercials and public service announcements. He continued to sing throughout his high school and while attending University of Guelph in 2001, he attained the title of Grand Champion of a top ten Canadian Universities singing competition called “Joint-U-Singing”.

CANADIAN IDOL ALUMNI MIKEY BUSTOS SHOWS SUPER POWERS WITH THE RELEASE OF HIS NEW CD
FEBRUARY 20, 2009 (TORONTO, ONTARIO) – Canadian Idol (Season One) Top 10 finalist and singersongwriter Mikey Bustos releases his debut solo album entitled “Memoirs of a Superhero”, hitting HMV stores, iTunes and other music retailers Canada-wide next week to share his philosophies of the mind and experiences with exhilarating living.
”Fulfilling living lies almost exclusively in the mind, and it becomes evident with each passing day” says Bustos. “I wanted to share my feelings with the world through this new album, especially in these seemingly difficult times.”
Bustos who since his appearance on the hit show Canadian Idol has released a music video, toured Canada, USA, and Asia, and was front act for the likes of Christina Aguilera and The Pussycat Dolls. Largely inspired by the philosophical works of life mentors such as Louise L. Hay and Abraham Hicks, “Memoirs of a Superhero” traces Bustos’ experiences and views with the life-shaping power of the mind and thought. Creatively using the superhero metaphor in the album of thirteen original pop tracks (twelve of which were written by Bustos), the journey begins.
As the Executive Producer of the album, Bustos expresses gratitude to the universe for the good fortune on a project which perfectly materialized as he’d envisioned. The album was inspired while living quietly in Montreal, Quebec away from the spotlight and hype of the hectic showbiz industry. “I was still touring at that moment, however it was my first time living alone far from hometown Toronto, and when you’re used to being in front of audiences sizing to 18, 000 people, it’s internally awakening to enjoy alone time,” says Bustos.
The album is a lively mix of upbeat danceable songs as well as the soulful, heart-felt ballads that placed Bustos in a category of his own in the Canadian Idol competition for which 15,000 hopefuls auditioned. While many young Canadian artists today seek to bring musical flavours from the US to Canadian audiences, Bustos opted to work with a team of six young producers from Toronto in hopes of capturing the young Toronto spirit and bring that groove to the world. “I truly feel the talents of young minds are powerful, and so too the urban Toronto sound. Indeed Toronto and furthermore Canada has a unique sound and musical identity of its own,” Bustos says.
