Slamhound started out when Eric Essex (Bass) and Shawn Kelly (Drums)met in Germany on a military base. They moved to Hollywood in 1991 where they met Paris Sinclair (Guitar)and later Josh Todd (Vocals). They plastered every pole in Hollywood and West Hollywood with their flyers. Next came the shows. The first show I saw was at the Troubadour in 1991. They were awesome!!! You could tell they were stars...one step ahead of the rest of the Hollywood glam bands of the late 80's and early 90's. Their music was original with a style that noone could really put a finger on. They just simply rocked. They had a bevvy of beautiful girls up the front of every show as they were also not too harsh on the eyes. They did many shows at The Troubadour, The Coconut Teaser, The Whisky, and the infamous shows at The Roxy with Pretty Boy Floyd, Big Bang Babies, Wicked Jester, Alley Cat Scratch and other bands of the day. You could always see the guys up on the strip on Friday and Saturday nights...ah remember the days when the strip was like a walking cruise strip. The hotties everywhere! Of course The Rainbow and Ten Masa were the main haunts back then. They played around town for a year until they were signed. The album was recorded but the deal didn't quite come to fruition. They left a legacy of great music and some great friendships that were forged by their fans whilst supporting their favorite bands.
