WALDO MADERA

About Me

I was born in Queens, N.Y. and brought up in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic where I lived from the age of 5 until I was 17. Then I moved back to New York City and studied at Manhattan School Of Music for my bachelors degree. I majored in Jazz & Commercial Music. My drum teacher was Mr. John Riley. After New York, I moved to México and lived there for many years. Currently living in Argentina. I’ve had the chance and blessing of making music & learning along side with many of my favorite musicians or solo artist though out my life. It’s a long list so I’ll just mention a bunch of them in no particular order: Paquito D Rivera, Héctor Infanzón, Carlos Santana, Ricky Martin, Juanes, Cristian Castro, Ricardo Arjona, Francisco Céspedes, Michel Camilo, Cachao, Giovanni Hidalgo, Arturo Sandoval, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Arturo Ortiz, Karl Perazzo, David Sanchez, Victor Vazquez, Janusz Bakun, Roberto (Betuco) Arballo, Kiko Cibrian, Dave Valentin, Chilo Moran, Víctor Patrón, Cris Lobo, Irka Mateo, Tadeu Di Marco, Tony Vicioso, Armando Montiel, Osmany Paredes, Aneiro Taño, Antonio Taño, Fernando Otero, Anthony Jackson, Víctor Mendoza, Fernando Huergo, José Sibaja, David Cabrera, Ben Stivers, Jeff Berlin, Tom Scott, Jerry Lopez, Héctor Santana, Enrique Del Rosario, Rafalél Mirabal, Felle Vega, David Almengot, Fernando Tobón, Felipe Alzate, Emmanuel Briceño, Felipe Navia, Juan Pablo Villamizar, Raúl Del Sol, Antonio Carmona, Juan Heredia Cortes, Chambao (LA MARI) and the list go’s on and on. Many of these I’m sure that most of you will know and some you might not but, believe me when I say they are all a huge influence in my up bringing as a musician and as a person too. I’ve also done a lot of studio work for many different artist and in a wide variety of styles like, Pop, Rock, Metal, Jazz, Latin pop, Latin jazz, Salsa, Fusion, Funk, Ballad, Country, New Age & Folk. I just finished Ricky Martins Black & White Tour a few months ago. Now I’m back on tour with Colombian artist JUANES. Starting on March 6th at Madison Square Garden N.Y. and covering North, Center & South America, Europe and parts of Asia during 2008.
