About Me

Welcome to the beautiful Mt Te Aroha, These hosting sites are my window to you. For 30 years now I have been writting and performing, I've recorded about 80 songs, sent out 100's of demo's, knocked on doors, but to date no record label or stardom.I have a new Album out "The World we Created" released May 9th 2009, recorded in my home studio and mastered at Stebbing Studios in Auckland. Have a look at www.shanetaylor.co.nz where I have 5 albums of free music to listen to. You can purchase albums there as well.I've lived in luxury and I've lived in Vans, like all travelling musicians and I have truely enjoyed the ride. I've been financing my own albums and selling them off stage which is very rewarding. Music was and is always in my blood. Most of my 2006 onward recordings you hear here are first take wonders in my small home studio, just tryin to get a demo down on my 8 or 16trk. Coming back home in 1997 to New Zealand I soon realised how hard it is to get a gig doing your own material in a small country but its amazing. I'm a bit of a greeney. I love the outdoors and writing songs about feeling good about the earth. I write about local issues and people close to me. If you do listen please become a friend so I can listen to you. All the best to all songwriters and performers out there.......................love what you do no matter who knocks ya back...............Growing up in Northland NZ Shane put his first band together at 11 yrs old, already writing songs and playing guitar from the talent passed down from his musical mum and the Toomer family who gave him the push and opportunity to be performing before he was old enough to drive to the gigs. Growing up in Whangarei in the 1970s he had numerous bands. Eclipse who recorded 9 original tracks at Radio Northland studios in 1979, Pinnups, Shane and Roger (Ryken), The Bill Coleman jazz trio and Pilot, who went on to survive full time up and down NZ on the lion beweries Pub circuit.Shane then free lanced full time based in Queenstown and recording a 2nd album with his brother Craig in 1986 and Whangarei musician Steve Wesley. This was followed by a chance meeting with ex major (and music promoter) of Fremont, California. Jack Pimental invited Shane over to California to promote his Solo Flight Album. 6 months Later back in Wellington NZ while performing full time he recorded his 3rd album at Marmalade studios " Take me Back" produced by Nigel Stone.Late 1992 Shane headed to Europe taking his music to Austrian and German ski resorts, he became quite the novelty Kiwi in Holland at many beach resorts and performed at the "International Music festival". He worked with and was support act for local singer Jan Paul Van Der Meij and wrote and recorded more songs there. Travelling, living in a van and playing cafes leave memories of Amsterdam etched in song. After a further 4 years in london Shane returned home to NZ in the late 1990s and now is settled in beautiful Te Aroha. He often performs solo or with Peter Helwig on Percussion and Gary Philips on bass. He sings his topical songs about his great country and people. He has a smooth laid back voice and you can really connect with his lyrics. Now in Te Aroha writing and recording in his small home studio Shane has produced 2 further Albums of original songs. You can catch Shane often at a local wine bar called Berlusconi or a regular gig at Reva's on the Waterfront in his hometown of Whangarei. The Audio Art cafe in Hamilton is a new regular outlet so maybe you will catch him there.
