About Me

If you could be anything you wanted, what would you be?Jennifer Crowe would be a singer. Although she plays both piano and guitar, Jennifer feels that her voice is her best method of self-expression. She can be sweet and sultry, smooth and gravelly, and she can make you feel like you are the only person in the world who matters. With Jennifer, a song becomes a private conversation, and you will walk away having had a personal experience even though you may have been one of many in the audience. The affair with singing began in her teens and at 28, it has now developed into an exclusive relationship. She began singing in gospel choirs and went on to study jazz, blues and opera throughout her high school and college years. While trained in jazz performance, she has tried her hand – and voice – in standard pop, performing in clubs around L.A. for more than six years. She has traveled around the music industry, both in terms of musical styles and music related jobs. In the process of making herself a well-rounded musician, she worked on the production side of the industry as a touring product specialist for companies that develop high end mastering and recording equipment and software. Jennifer aims to be a consummate performer and has educated herself and others (including world famous engineers and producers) in recording equipment so as to get the best and most authentic performance possible. In an industry full of “studio magic”, it’s a rare thing to find a musician who sounds as good live as they do recorded. In addition to being a very talented singer, Jennifer is also a songwriter. She has penned dozens of her own songs and writes for others as well. You will be able to hear some samples of her songs written in a modern pop vein in an upcoming Lakeshore Productions/Lions Gate film featuring Ashlee Simpson, due for release in fall of 2005.For the past year, Jennifer has been working with composer/arranger Patrick Williams and lyricist Arthur Hamilton (“Cry Me A River”) on developing new material that’s “made for her”. With a vocal and dynamic range as unique as hers, it should be since it shows off the music (and her voice) to their mutual advantage. They have finished work on half a dozen songs that the three of them believe represents a mix of evergreen and contemporary styles – styles that combine the distinct qualities of the classic standards and the new progressive jazz/pop crossovers. With these songs, Jennifer intends to restore a timeless glamour to an industry now dominated by T&A teen idols. She sings music for grown-ups (no matter how young they are), and she’s grown into it beautifully.
