Myspace Backgrounds
Telemark came to life when Roland Hackl and Andreas Kinzl aka Dj.Scott met in 1999 joining forces and putting their very own concept of up-to-date club music into action. Though coming from different musical backgrounds Andreas and Roland yet share a passion for quality music with an attitude. Always ready to push sonic and spiritual frontiers they learned to take every risk when doing it somewhat different:
'For me it's a huge bomb and that's not saying enough yet! There's everything in there: violent funk, overwhelming energy, very 'now' but different and it's got a huge sound with soul. A future anthem for sure!' (Geoffroy / Hi-Phen on Telemark's 'Dizzy Dancing')
Pigeonholing? Style police? Think again, it's about time to bring it to a new level! Whether it's off-the-wall jazz, raw funk, electro, breaks, old or new, Telemark simply refuse to categorize. It's all about inspiration, creativity and being open-minded about sonic experiments and adventurous methods of sound mangling.
Influences? You bet! Andreas looks back on a inimitable career as a DJ spinning Soul, Funk, Afro, Latin and Brazil from his vast records collection while Roland relies on his skills and experience from years of hustle and bustle in music production.
Yet even more important, inspiration comes from connecting with like-minded musicians and uncompromising vocalists like Kudra Owens and John Whitfield aka Big John.
Kudra features on the 2004 release 'I Feel Alright' providing a classy vocal performance in the song's original version: 'Mortel tout ca! I absolutely love this record, very tasty and musical!' (Rainer Truby on 'I Feel Alright'); 'House d' excellente qualité comme d'hab. Bravo. Merci encore! (Laurent Garnier on 'I Feel Alright'). Big John is doing his business on 'Sanctified' a track released on Munich based ..Perfect Toy Records... REMIX Works followed for ..Langoth..on Sunshine Enterprises; ..Dela Dap..on Chat Chapeau and..Aromabar.. on Infracom Records. New Material is in the pipe for late 2008 and early 2009.
Some quotes
'Dizzy Dancing is probably one of my top five tunes at the moment and probably the most original. Like a great breaks record, only more subtle and clever. This is what jazz should be about (not noodles). Expect the people to go apeshit in the second half!' (Ivan Smagghe)
'I find it an outstanding and exciting release…..I love the fusion of electro & breaks in it and the amazing feel of old and new! It's totally up my tree! It's hearing stuff like this that makes my day!' (Samy Morpheus on 'Dizzy Dancing')
'Really like the tracks, great original and totally playable remixes. Will play and support.' (Chris Duckenfield / Swag on 'I Feel Alright')
'Ca défonce!!! La face soul est un super beau track. L'autre face c'est tout à fait le genre de truc hybride house que je vais jouer grave. D'ailleurs il tourne deja en boucle sur ma platine.' (Tal Stef on 'I Feel Alright')
'I really like that Radical Version …. it sounds very 'now'. Thanks!' (Jori Hulkkonen on 'I Feel Alright')
'Both the dub and the Radical Version are blindingly good, deep funky breaks. Miss at your own peril!' (Vinyl Addiction, UK)
