About Me

Im just a young black man from Compton that's tryna make a difference ya kno'. Music is my life mann, My life is music... I do my music from the heart, I figured using the brain to do music is pointless... people feel wat u are saying in these rhymes; they can relate to em'... I think the music that i do is far different from the others in my region... I come from da scene of gangster rap, Im not saying that its a problem with gansta rap, its just that im not a gangster so why would I lie to the people; let alone myself, Like I said Imma black man out the hood, tryna make a difference... I do music for the love, the passion... Its been a big dream of mines for quite some time now, Ya kno Im just tryna turn this big dream dat i keep havin into reality and hopefully 1day Ill put a big smile on my moms face... Since im influenced by the 90's era i do music that's triggered mainly from da 90's culture but i add my twist to it by doin Me "Im Mannie Jay" (u kno me, Im only da biggest rap star in ur apartment complex Lol...)"THROUGH MY LIFETIMES"Well I was born in New Orleans on August 10, 1988 in a house of 6. We all stayed with my grandma, she was the heart and soul of the family. As we grew older some of the family moved out and started a family of there own, around that time i was maybe like what???...around 3 years old. My Momz and Pops devorced and left my mom "Denise Jacobs" alone with 2 kids to raise. So we moved to South Central L.A. It was rough starting from the bottom, we moved from apartment to apartment. Me and my big brother Vinnie watched momz suffer and it was nothing we could do. My mom landed a good paying job and found a koo spot in Watts and we stayed there untill she landed an even better job and we moved to Compton where everything pretty much started... Momz didnt let me listen to rap music and the only time I could was when my cuzin Junior would come by and I would listen to hip-hop in the car. I remember one day coming home from school, I was cleaning up my room and i wanted to listen to some music ..(LOL).. So I stole my older brother cd case and went through and went through em'. I came across this Jay-z cd, it was the Vol.3 and I put it in and as I was cleaning up i cought a vibe by th lyrics and it motivated me to rap.Imma solo artist from Compton, Cali and I been making muzik for about 5 years goin on. Music has been an inspiration for me and where I stay at almost all the real brothaz and sistaz could relate to my childhood. I never met my pops and bassically my momz had to play both roles (the mom / dad role ya kno') but it takes a man to raise a man, only men can raise men. No affense to momz but she couldnt teach me how to be a man, i had to learn on my on so therefore the streets raised me. Me and my brother learned alot on our own. I mean sure we could have tooken da wrong route and sold drugs, gang banged or wat-not but, we did other things to keep us focus... Like sports (My Big Bro Vinnie played Basketball back in his highschool and college dayz) and fa me it was music. I used music as my hustle and this hustle is my golden ticket out the hood. As you can see Im influenced by Jay-Z. By studying him tought me da basics and i grew from there. Im Just Me... Thats all I know how to be... I write Hip-Hop, Soul, R&B, I produce, I engineer... I mean I do It all... Im like A "1 MAN BAND"...A TRIBUTE TO J.DILLA(MANNIE JAY 2008) This is from Dj Whoa Nelly's ipopon3 shin-digg introducing myself... Mannie Jay... Check me out...(MANNIE JAY 2007) This is a clip of me freestyling at school for West Star DVD... ...google that shit LOL(MANNIE JAY 2006) This is some raw footage of me freestyling in my room on some silly shit...
