About Me

THE HISTORYIn the summer of 2006, guitar duo Björn and Henrik had recently disolved their previous project Second Hand Society and were in desperate pursuit of foundations to a new band, with a more rock-oriented approach. Salvation came with childhood friend Chris moving back to their home town of Luleå, after living for four years in another part of the counrty. With him he brought a creativity that could compare to those of the two guitarists, a passion for Kiss and The Hellacopters, as well as an at times razorblade liver-piercing, at times beautifully sweet singing voice. After a few days of jamming, it became obvious that the three were in need of a rythm section and the natural first choice when filling the bass position was Björn’s class mate Nippe, who had experience from metal band Maveric. The quintet was close to being complete, but choosing a drummer proved harder than expected. A few people were tried, but nobody felt just right and the band’s first scheduled performance drew closer with every day. Approximately a week in advance, the boys asked Simon, a drummer from school, to fill in for this gig. Simon duly accepted and four songs were rehearsed and performed the nextcoming Saturday night to an audience of insignificant size (although not, as it would turn out, the smallest in the band’s forthcoming career). That first show the band was credited as The Ace, and it wasn’t until the next gig, December 8th at the minifetival Studio 24; and at which time Simon had permanently joined the group, that the outfit was baptised and the name proudly proclaimed: The Hoochies.
