About Me

Hello, my name is Duvel. I came from the pet shop in Shepherd's Bush Market, London, on May 6th, 1994.I was an only child and developed an interesting personality as a result of all the play and attention I got. While living in Shepherd's Bush on Netherwood Road, my People often took me to a pub that had a really nice beer garden in Brookgreen. That beer garden was great. We would get there and I would be so excited, and i would pull as hard as i could, but they always had to order beer before going into the garden. Except for looking like a idiot when my people put this leather thing around my body and tied a lead to it - (a lead - really, I am most certainly not a dog!)- it was the greatest thing ever. They would just say the word 'Walkies' and i would run to the door. Since I lived on the 4th floor, that was my only chance to get out on the town (except when I got out of the window and climbed around on the roof, and let myself in someone else's flat through their sky light. It was so much fun to see the surprise on those stranger's faces! But that is another story). Then we moved to Harlsden (London). That was a great place. I had my own garden to protect. Believe me, I had that place under tight security. If the neighbors dog, Bella, (a big rotweiller I might add) ever tried to even stick her nose under the fence, why i would slice it up. But there was a squirrel that lived in the garden too. Well, we won't talk too much about the squirrel. He kinda gave me the creeps so I let him chase me, just to make him feel alittle bit bigger. I still have not forgiven Rachel and Tom for feeding that squirrel. Oh, but it did get worse. Then they brought home a little person named Charlotte, and well, life has not been the same since. I will never forget the time they brought that little thing home from the hospital. I have never been so depressed in my life! (Except for the time that I got lost and it took me three days to find my way home. That was pretty depressing too, but that had a happy ending). Now i live in Georgia and enjoy the climate here. I really enjoy the outdoors and love taking walks with my people. We have a lot of trees where I live now, and I am the only cat around, at least in the several acres that I patrol and keep highly scented of me. When I was younger, I liked to sit on the porch swing, but am finding it hard to do that these days as I just can't jump like i used to.I am named after a very good, and strong Belgium Beer called Duvel. I have never tried it myself, but I am told it is good beer. There are two little people who live with me, and they really stress me out. I have to say I am very tolerant and put up with a lot, and do my best to keep my claws where they belong. I actually think I am as near to sainthood as a cat can get. I mean, do you have any idea what those two brats...uh, I mean, little people do to me? I get carried around endlessly, get put into containers, get dressed up in pink (pink? I am a BOY!).Yes, Georgia has been a nice place to retire. But at 13 I am not feeling so well these days. I am hoping my owners can do something to make me better as I feel pretty rotten, and can't even meow about it.Afterword... Duvel went down hill rapidly and was put to rest on Thursday September 27th, 2007. He will be greatly missed, and always in our heart.
