Roots Indie Traditional
So it goes like this .... I grew up in a family of musicians. Some of my earliest memories were family jams where my kokum, aunts, uncles, and dad all pulled out their instruments playing for hours on end while they set me up at a small keyboard (good size for a little kid) to 'play' along with them. My mom has a beautiful voice (as did her father who also played violin) and she was forever singing Jim Reeves and Patti Page songs around the house. So these are the roots of a life-long journey of creating noise and music. I will be doing this until the very end as it is no longer about the outcome, but is everything about the journey of learning and creating and learning and creating some more! I have been blessed to have been able to perform in Korea, Austria, Germany, France, Australia, Mexico and the United States. It was a humbling honour to have composed the Aboriginal Welcoming Song for the recent 2010 Olympic Opening Ceremonies, which was scored by Vancouver's Bob Buckley. And I am the proud owner of a Canadian Folk Music Award, a Western Canadian Music Award, an Indian Summer Music Award (Wisconsin), five Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards and have received three consecutive Juno nominations.I also work as a composer and electroacoustic sound designer.
