Nigel is a Milwaukee native that got his stripes appearing at open mics and Slams around Milwaukee. Nigel started on the scene with the intention to just share his poetry and hear the poetry from other legendary Milwaukee poets that his older sister, Danielle, told him in his younger years. After reading at open mics, participating in the Midwest Slam League, and winning a few slams, the poetry scene demanded more from this rookie poet. Drawn in by his animated performance and unique poetic style, Nigel was told that he had a “…unique sound. You don’t sound like someone else, you sound like you.†by the founder of PSI, Mark Smith (So what?!) It was because of this unique style that earned him a place on the 2006 Milwaukee National Slam Team among some of Milwaukee’s finest poets, his first time ever trying out for the team. This past February, Nigel won the 2006 Milwaukee Shuffle Slam where he competed against the some the best poets in the Milwaukee scene. This earned him the right to represented Milwaukee at the 2007 Individual World Poetry Slam in Vancouver, Canada. With the release of his first poetry entitled "My Backyard", Nigel has been established a great compliment to the Milwaukee Poetry Scene. Thanks to B.Drake for the Beats
