Born on the streets of Sydney, Hussle Recordings is the hometown hero made good. Hussle may live in the Sydney office of the worlds largest dance music brand Ministry of Sound, but its home is on the dancefloor under the heels of glamour queens, under the sneakers of flouro kids, under the chuck tailors of indie punks and at the front of the record boxes of the worlds best DJs.
In the past five years, Hussle has accumulated a back catalogue rich enough to make any dance label in the world green with envy. Artists the calibre of and diverse as Mylo, Green Velvet, Fedde Le Grand, Annie, Tonite Only, The Knife, The Similou and Gus Gus have all found a home down under at Hussle and helped shape it into the leading Australian imprint for all things house and electro.
Hussle’s list of accomplishments is nearly as large as its 100+ release back catalogue, be it achieving number 1 Singles Chart positions, number 1 Club Charts, number 1 Buzz Charts, inclusions on countless high profile national and international compilations, Pete Tong support (‘The Bump’ – now licensed to CR2, ‘It’s a Swede Thing’ – now licensed to MOS UK) or, as its done some many times before, unearthing that next big artist and that next big sound.
With the current Australian sound exploding onto the world stage, Hussle is there at the forefront, shaping that sound and delivering the next wave of dance music stars. Current Australian artists Hook n Sling, Sam La More (formally Tonite Only), Tommy Trash, Goodwill and The Aston Shuffle are all fast becoming some of dance music’s hottest names and its no coincidence that early breaks for many of these artists came through Hussle.
Adding to this list of home grown talent are many of the worlds biggest international names such as Axwell, D.Rameriz, Fedde Le Grand, Tom Novy, Green Velvet, all of whom have upcoming release on Hussle. In addition to this vast list of international artist talent, Hussle is also label partners with two of the worlds leading dance labels CR2 and Great Stuff, helping them both to get a strong foothold into the Australian market.
As Hussle continues to move forward and expand its vast array of talent, it will be taking its style and sound to the streets, touring nationally to bring great parties, fresh sounds and even keeping its eyes open for that undiscovered talent.
