Band Members: That would be me, I guess.
Influences: As far as strictly guitar influences go...Eric johnson, Mark Knopfler, Bill Frissell, Joe Satriani (and I'm not ashamed of it, dammit), Michael Hedges, Jimmy Herring, Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, Brett Garsed (an Australian fusion monster), Eric Clapton, Danny Gatton, Johnny A...and anybody I got to hang out with and trade ideas with- like Van Sachs (with Beth Chorneau) and Dustin Hofsess (of Greenlight). But as far as music and songs go- Beatles, Jellyfish, Jason Falkner, Del Amitri (these guys are so good it's a crime they're not super famous), Pernice Brothers, Matthew Sweet, Police, XTC, Everclear, Elvis Costello, Michael Penn...jeez, this is hard. Lots of stuff, mostly in the "smart pop" realm.
Sounds Like: I try to play the right thing for the songs, and people, I play with...which is a never ending lesson in knowing when to shut up, and how to listen. A guy at the Sylvia Theater said I sounded like "a pedal steel from Mars", or something like that. I like it when people use the word "tasteful"- so the more often I hear it, the more I'm probably doing the right kind of playing. Eh? Does that help?

What A Super Nice Guy!!!

Soooo... I reviewed Joe Bonamassa's newest CD a few months back. While the guitar playing was great as usual, I pointed out that some of the songs themselves just sounded a little, I dunno, cheesy. Ha...

So, as I'm  walking to work today, further down the hill I spot an older lady walking her little chihuahua towards me. It's fine- y'know, little old ladies and their pets need some exer...

Random

Pretty much for my personal entertainment, I've decided to see whether I can remember every guitar I've owned over the years, starting with my first one. I may or may not write some little anecdote ab...

Guitars. Again.

I recently got to hang out with my old "music and retail mentor" Jimmy Saviano. It was absolutely great to see him again, as I have a real knack for dropping off the face of the earth when it comes to...

Hunting.

Turned on the TV this morning, and there's this goober explaining the details of bowhunting. Ugh. Then I get to see him actually kill a deer, and gleefully run up to the mortally wounded animal (grinn...

Let the noodling begin!

Got together with Josh and Jimmy from Cerberus last week to do some jamming, and lo and behold after an hour and a half we came out with a song! Those guys play together quite well, and pushed things ...
