At first, you might think that this Palm Beach County, dread-head, pretty boy – who always has a good time – isn’t serious about music. But he is. A Georgia-boy at heart, he got his first record deal when he was 16-years-old and soon became apart of a short-lived rap-group called Diamond Cut.
Since then, this rapper has made some big strides at taking over the music industry one rhyme at a time.
“Music is the only thing that I have interest in,†said G.Pinez, who dropped out of high school to follow his music career. “I love everything about it. The fame, the money, the fast life itself, I’m infatuated with it,†he said.
While his father wanted him to pursue a football career, it was obvious that G.Pinez had something else in store. But it wasn’t until his first live performance when G.Pinez became hypnotized by the power of music. Three songs into his performance, his group switched gears from club-crunk-style to a moshing-style fight song. The club-goers went haywire.
“Someone picked up a chair. Then someone picked up a gun and everybody went crazy,†said G.Pinez, Shots starting ringing out in the club and people started running. “I couldn’t believe it. The music was more powerful than the singing.â€
While this might have motivated someone to change careers, G.Pinez became even more intrigued with the power of music. He began to ask questions and tried to figure out how music affects its listeners. Thus, he added producing to his platform.
Today, G.Pinez is determined to make music that has a message and can withstand the test of time. “Anyone can make music but it takes and artist to make a classic.â€
