Hearing Bootsy Collins "playing the funk" in the 70's struck a chord with me. At that moment I knew I wanted to minic Bootsy's sound and was determined to thump a beat on the bass too. The only set back was...I did not have a bass nor did I know how to play for that matter. However, that was only a minor deterrent.I decided I would construct my own bass guitar out of old copper, a broom stick and rubber bands. I would sit in my bedroom, listen repeatedly to records and practice daily on my makeshift bass. Working two jobs, with the help of my mom Joyce, I purchased my first bass...a G & L 1000. I began long practice sessions to hone my skills and started playing gigs with a few local bands in the Toledo, Ohio area.I later attended the University of Toledo and learned upright and bass tapping techniques while playing in the Universisty's orchestra and jazz ensembles. My musical journey has led me to musical hotbeds such as Atlanta and Memphis playing and writing everything from Hip-Hop, R & B, Heavy Metal, Rock, Funk, Gospel, Blues & Country music. Additionally, I shared my passion with others by teaching bass lessons. So upon my wife Deirdre's suggestion, CountBassE was born!CountBassE is a "Bass Boutique", which is intended to cater to bass players of all skill levels, styles and genres. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro we want to provide something that will fit you or your favorite bass player's needs.
