Alain Apaloo

The music of “Api Pipo” is an unusual and uplifting blend of West-African and contemporary jazz. In Alain Apaloo’s compositions and reinterpretations of Togolese traditionals, the interplay between grooves, sequences, advanced harmony and a personal melodic flair is quite unique.

While being an excellent soloist, the bandleader also has a great sense of the collective approach, which makes the band seem very complete and highly energetic, playing the occasionally tricky parts with lightness and ease.

Api Pipo was created in 2007 and has performed regularly in Denmark, in among others : Copenhagen Jazzhouse… and for the successful new tradition of African Night each month in Mojo.

Api Pipo’s first album will be released in april 2009, with many different guests!!
