My name is Loretta, I've been a NYS Registered Nurse for the past 8yrs. I've been an Emergency Room RN for the past 6 yrs and before that worked in Med/Surg Oncology and Step Down.
Recently, I've noticed, not only how difficult it is for nursing students to obtain guidance outside the classroom or clinical setting, when they do, a lot of negative criticism or comments are attached. It is just as difficult for New Grads, just starting out in the clinical area. They end up with a preceptor who is too busy to properly train them, yet still, at the end of Orientation, they are expected to fly solo.
So, I had the idea to start a website exclusively for nursing students, new nursing grads, and pre-nursing students. I received a lot of help developing the site from a variety of colleagues and input from New Grads and Nursing Students. Our site offers academic guidance, clinical support, and most important, a place to socialize. We all need a place to vent when we feel like we've had enough - if you've been to Nursing School or you are just starting out, you know exactly what I mean.Come check us out. Our site is free for registered users. Set up your profile and start a topic in our forum - currently practicing Registered Nurses will be monitoring the forum to answer questions. Hope to see you there!
