Velvet Wall

About Me

UNFORTUNATELY, VELVET WALL HAVE CALLED IT A DAY. CHRIS CLARKE DECIDED TO PART COMPANY WITH THE BAND ON AUGUST 15TH 2005 AND AFTER A MEETING OF THE REMAINING 3 MEMBERS, IT WAS DECIDED THAT THEIR AIMS AND GOALS WERE TOO DIFFERENT TO BOTHER CARRYING ON BUT CONTINUE TO BE GOOD FRIENDS. ALI C, DAVID AND CHUCK MAY WORK TOGETHER ON PROJECTS IN THE FUTURE. OTHERWISE, THE REST OF THIS IS TRUE. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO DOWNLOAD THE TWO TRACKS UP THERE IF YOU ENJOY THEM, BECAUSE THERE WON'T BE ANY MORE! Also, congratulations to Ali C who married Bev on 15th October - twas a wonderful day!Velvet Wall established themselves on the Worcestershire music scene in 2003 after founding members of ‘Mudsucker’, Chris Allison (Ali C) and Chuck Lavalette went on the search for musicians to work on a new project. The first recruit was ex-’Crossfire’ guitarist Chris Clarke who encountered the other two on the internet. After mixed success with a selection of vocalists including recording sessions with Nigel Clark of ‘Dodgy’ fame, the group went through a period of relative inactivity during the middle of 2004 whilst they concentrated on finding the right man. They opted to audition an old school friend, David Edwards (affectionally known as 'Daggers') and welcomed him into the band as a full member shortly before Christmas.Already an established composer and collaborator in previous groups including ‘The Naked Horse’, ‘MY-i’ and ‘Doctor Gonzo’, David’s vocal style and contribution to the writing process has shifted the sound to a more open plain. Revitalised, the band quickly found a common ground with their shared musical influences, which include The Who, U2, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix amongst many others. With the line-up secure, the four members of Velvet wall have been working hard crafting themselves into a credible live force. After writing an album's worth of original material, the band have taken these songs and gone onto gig through the West Midlands region with a growing band of followers. As 2005 began, the group started sessions with producer and old friend James Mulvale, the initial result of which was the new recordings of ‘River Wide’ and ‘Red Line’ - two established favourites from their live set. From those who have already seen the stage show, their reputation as a live force grows with every performance.
