To the Manglar collective, the mangrove symbolizes a richly mysterious sanctuary, full of life in all its diversity and interconnectivity – an idea the group reflects in the music they create.
The name has also been adopted with the intention of promoting awareness of the current ecological devastation threatening the delicate and essential mangrove habitats. Not only in Mexico, but across the world mangroves are being destroyed at an alarming rate all in the name of ‘progress.’CONTACT US....... [email protected] / [email protected]
Influences: El viento.......desde las profundidades de sus lagunas y cenotes color turquesa y jade, guardan muchas historias de nuestros antepasados, las que brotan como musica desde cada uno de los que habitan el manglar........

Sounds Like:Manglar is a fresh idea, abounding with flavour and some not-so-subtle hints of madness. The group works as a collective, utilizing the creativity and tastes of all its members, creating a musical alchemy performed live with traditional African and contemporary dance. Infused with varied and original musical themes, Manglar is a fusion of Funk, Afro, Reggae, Ska, Latin and Rock, all woven together with pure fun and jazzy energy. A diverse mix of percussion, including congas, djembe, bata, paila, chekere, and drum-kit, further defines this band’s earth-grooving spirit. The varied percussion is combined with guitar, Cuban tres, six-string and fretless bass, and most recently the Chapman Stick, to create a relentlessly groovy terrain over which searing-hot saxophone melodies soar. The woodwind section includes flutes, alto, tenor and most recently, bass saxophone. For the most part instrumental, and always full of improvisation.
