Mercy Song of Love

CRITICALLY ILL CHILD INSPIRES MERCY COLLEGE MUSIC BUSINESS STUDENTS TO WRITE A “SONG OF LOVE”.
When Professor Robert Porembski heard his Music Business students at Mercy College, in White Plains, New York, complaining about the poor image contemporary musicians and songwriters have in society because of the negativity and questionable morals of so many of their contemporaries, he challenged them to do something about it. They were excited about the prospect of having a positive impact but didn’t know how to go about it.
Professor Porembski, who strongly believes in the healing power of music, suggested that the students use their songwriting and production skills to write a “song of love” for a critically ill child. After contacting the Songs of Love Foundation, the class received a detailed profile of a child and wrote and recorded a song specifically tailored to the child’s interests and hobbies. The song, “Alexander (Video Game Commander)” is a pop song video game adventure fantasy.
Professor Porembski is quoted as saying, “as a songwriter and recording artist you are faced with the responsibility of your message. I am proud of my students for taking a stand and deciding to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem”.
