About Me

Andrew R. Hill:
An Edinburgh based writer and performer, noted for his sartorial impressiveness and intense, if currently occasional, live shows.
Was born at the Western General Hospital, and raised in Trinity/Newhaven (AKA the 'posh' - read all-too-middle class - end of Leith), where he lives to this day.
Until now he has been most noted for fronting The Dreamt, and risking life and limb in the process (in one instance nearly breaking his leg and back after jumping from a drum riser). They are currently on a hiatus, for the foreseeable future.
Played his first solo gig in support of Eagleowl (then still known as Eagleowl attack) at Henry's Cellar Bar.
As of February '09, he has become the guitarist for the Edinburgh no wave band Sellotape.
Fond of melodrama, existentialist/absurdist literature, Glasgow (especially Monorail Music) and Plan B magazine, he also has a keen interest in religion, despite being somewhat atheistic. Simon Reynolds' 'Rip It Up & Start Again' is his bible.
On occasion, is a painter, and a dabbler in film-making and music journalism.
Was co-organiser of the Southbound Sessions (with founder Simon Kempston and Steven Carey), an evening of primarily acoustic music at The Village in Leith usually on the final Sunday of every month. He, Simon and Steven also organised Secret Melody Store, the sister night to Southbounds, at City Cafe. These nights are currently on hold whilst the organisers follow their own artistic pursuits.
His musical collaborators/projects have been many and have included Tiny Mouth (aka Maitiu Corbett, drummer of The Dreamt), Steven Carey, Sophie Lloyd, Sex Act, Night Flights, Charlotte McClintock, Aaron Wright & The Aprils, Kris Millar, Michael Scott, Alasdair Macinnes (also of The Dreamt) and Deep Sea Fashion.
He was declared 'most likely to start a musical revolution' in his school yearbook. He's working on it, just wait and see...
He has also recently (May '09) began work on a non-fiction book. All he's saying for now is that it's about music. Maybe it'll surface one day.
_________
The musical goalposts are currently being re-aligned, with a whole new raft of artists, literature and experiences influencing the sound and the words. As such, the music here is reflective in some ways of what A.R.H. is up to now, and, in many ways, it is not. As a great man once said, it's time to 'rip it up and start again'.
Some of this process may come to be revealed with the release of a forthcoming (currently untitled) E.P., which he is working on with producer, and good friend, Steven Carey, who you can find in his top friends.
Furthermore, there are more than a couple of unnamed musical projects floating about, details (and, hopefully, material) will appear at some point in 2009.
Stay tuned, pop-pickers.

Well, I've decided to rebrand myself as 'Mr. Andy Hill', so as not to get confused with any other gadge (e.g. that Andy Hill that wrote for such, erm, delightful acts as Buck's Fizz. Not a mistake you...
