About Me

MyGen Profile Generator Q-P was born in a refugee camp on the Thai/Cambodian border in 1980. He is the youngest of 7 children. After losing two of his siblings to the Khmer Rouge, his family set foot on a journey that would change their lives forever. After being sponsored by Christians, the Som family immigrated to Jacksonville, Fl., leaving behind the eldest of the 7. They lived in Jacksonville for 7 years and after finding family in Seattle, they moved again. Here in Seattle is where Q-P learned the game. Q-P, short for Quarter Pound is no stranger to hard times. He lived in a one bedroom apartment with 2 brothers and his sister; often having to share the bed. His mother did all that she could to provide for her children. That's when she had to get assistance from the government. Q-P lived in section 8 housing for the rest of his teenage years. After graduating from High School, Q-P started working for a chemical distribution company and has been there ever since. When Q-P was 16 he started to write poems that eventually became lyrics. He knew he could write but did not know how to express what he wrote. Q-P is a big 2pac fan. He has studied his work and work ethic. He read that 2pac wrote poetry also. That's when Q-P started rapping in his friend's basement. They recorded with a performance mic and it didn't sound too good. Now, 26, Q-P has formed a group called the Smoke Doggz that consist of his homeboy; Young Scan and himself. Q-P built a studio at home so they could record without paying too much for production. Tha Smoke Doggz are set to release their debut album "Hostile Takeover". They have done numerous shows around the Puget Sound area: Brickcity(Tacoma), Premier(Seattle), Atlantis(Milton) and Jimmy Z's(Everett). They have also helped Sonny Brown open up for E-40 and Do or Die. QP also has that entrepenuerial spirit. He plans to take his Smoke Dogg Music imprint to the top and has plans for a clothing line. Tha Smoke Doggz have worked with Big Loe and INVAZN of On-Fire Ent., Dirty O and JOENEAZ of Tha Reason Records and Sonny Brown and EPI of 4th World Records to name a few. Look out for "Hostile Takeover" the LP and "Sleepless N Seattle" mixtapes. Also, Q-P is prepping for his solo debut titled "First Come, First Served" all on Smoke Dogg Music.
