My name is Dror Ben- Ya'akov. i'm a singer & songwriter.
As long as i can remember myself, i sing, listen to and love music. As time
Went on i began writing songs, lyrics and melodies, and play guitar & piano.
Music has enriched my inner world. Trough the years, i was fortunate to
Encounter wonderful musicians, songwriters, and singers. Together we sang
played, recorded and performed.
Often i discover, whether in good moments or during difficult times. that for
Me the creative experience in songs and music is the best source of Inspiration, energy and excitement. i hope that while listening to my songs
You will feel similar experience.In 2001 i recorded with my band a disc titled :"Dror ben yaakov and the
Acoustic Blanket". i wrote the lyrics and melodies to all the songs. it's
Atmosphere an intimate acoustic performance.In 2002 i recorded a disc titled "In Between" (Bain). i composed melodies to lyrics by poet Nathan Alterman, David Fogel, an old song by Yehuda Halevi and Hanina Karchevski: "Do the Tears know", and some of my own songs.In 2003 i recorded a disc containing songs all composed by a musician freind.
Eventually the disc was not published. that same year, a song that i composed and recorded "On the Edge" (Al Ha'saf) by Nathan Alterman, appears in a compilation disc: "Songs by Alterman" on "Phonokol Records", featuring leading Israeli artists.In 2005 the same song "On the Edge" and additional song by Nathan Alterman i composed and recorded , "It Doesn't Return" (Ze Lo Hozer) appeared in a compilation disc on "Hed Artzi Records".In 2006 i came out with a disc titled "A Refuge for the Soul" (Miflat LaNeshama). it contains Melodies to lyrics by poet: Leah Goldberg, Avraham Chalfi, David Fogel,
Yaakov Rotblit, and song by the musician Dalit Ma'ayan, as well some of my Own songs. the disc was recorded along several years in several studios as
Well as during two live performance.In 2007 i recorded a duet (cover), the song "Summer's gone" (ve'hakaits Avar), by Haim Hefer and Sasha Argov, with a friend and veteran singer- Irit Dotan (Tnu Lanu Yad Venelech). the song was extensively played on the radio. Later that year i composed and recorded the song "Like a Ball" (Kmo Kadur) by the late poet Shimshon Halfi upon his daughter's request, the poet Rachel Halfi. the song appears in an upcoming compilation disc of Shimshon Halfi songs on "Hed Artzi Records", featuring leading Israeli artists.In 2008 i participated in a television program, "Israeli Duets" together with Irit Dotan.
