About Me

Detonation point for The Margin, with their resurrection plan for music with balls and soul, came to life in Glastonbury on the 16th of July 2008 with their first live performance. There was an overflowing amount of support that night at GAS, a popular scene for non main-stream music lovers. The energetic showmanship and powerful beats, a trademark of this latest addition to rock music, injected the mob of onlookers with new vigour. Since this point in time The Margin have gone on a nonstop roll of simulating their wide fan base, of young and old admirers alike. In just over half a year of shows The Margin has made its self one of the big names and favourites of the competitive local Somerset movement of talented artists. Flourishing in Battle of the Bands, taking part in charity adverts, holding their own exhibitions with a community studio and highlighted by supporting rock legends Space Ritual (Formally Hawkwind) at the Assembly Rooms. So this four-piece punk rock band, comprising of brothers Alastair (Big Al) & Duncan Gay along with friends Alex Lucas and Matt Boyce (Boycey), without compromise deliver you all their fresh twist on punk. All bring an influence of rock music to the mix from old school punk to skate punk, from metal to blues and classic rock to grunge. The group of hard working good humoured friends have written 11 songs of their very own over the past two years of playing together and feel ready to record a first album. All eleven songs are designed with fun in mind and to reinforce a positive sense of being, so you won’t find any wet tear jerker’s hiding here. A total no nonsense taking attitude without taking life too seriously come over in the song writing which make you want to jump about, smile while singing along to a powerful head nodding beat and quick tempo which would sit well in an large stage atmosphere. When ask to describe this unique sound it would be nearness to the mark if you said, Imagine if Seventies female punksters The Slits went on the road with the likes of Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Guns N Roses and Blink 182. Then had with them all a Jack Daniels fuelled Roman type orgy and nine months later threw up an offspring of four young musical crusaders. And said offspring were left in Tennessee a with blues sage BB King as their legal guardian for an upbringing till they were men. Then those four would make the punk rock blues sound that you can only find in this Glastonbury based band The Margin!2009 is setting up to see them spread their music further afield with prospective gigs in Cardiff, Exeter, Frome, Bridgewater, Taunton, Weymouth, Yeovil and more.
