True Art********

After having enjoyed "Angels Falling Down" for a few weeks I can finally take the distance to write some words about it. THIS IS NOT A CD. Oh yes, it is cleverly disguised as one: CD box and silver platter... but as soon as it's in the player all similarities to mentioned object vanish: THIS IS A PAINTING or rather a full exhibition of Impressionist pictures painted by a master painter! Rich primary colors on one canvas, tender pearly yellows and greens on another. Beautiful landscapes and intimate views all done with a perfect perspective. This work of beauty, normally only to be seen in the Louvre, or Tate Gallery should be the most prized possession of any true art lover!Reviews of 'Angels Falling Down' the New CD by Gavin Stephens**********
'Angels Falling Down'
Review by Jean-Emmanuel Dubois."You are feeling miserable at the choice in the record shops and you are left feeling depressed and gloomy, nothing interests you anymore.
I think I have the remedy for you, a songwriter still little known, who is carving out a niche for himself on the Web with pocket Symphonies infused with a gentle melancholy. Gavin is certainly awash with diverse influences (Van Dyke Parkes/Randy Newman/Bacharach and Co.) but he possesses his own vocabulary, which proves that pop can re-invent itself.
Gavin (English) is also continental: he invokes Michel Legrand and Jacques Tatti with a dash of Prince. If Valentino has an affluent 'Deauville' side to him, Stephens is more 'Trouville', with its charm of muted colours.
Angels Falling Down, is a man who soars up on his dreams, far above the world of all its problems."*********Reviews of 'Angels Falling Down' the New CD by Gavin Stephens**********

Absolutely brilliant song cycle !It's utterly wilsonesque without sounding like mere pastiche as Wilson lovers too often do. Highly recommended !
*********Reviews of 'Angels Falling Down' the New CD by Gavin Stephens**********: - Heir Apparent? - author: Paul Howard - Angels Falling Down is a beautifully realized song-cycle that calls to mind the classic late 60's early 70's Beach Boys, with a dash of Prince at his most playful as well as the odd nod to Miles Davis. Sublime close harmonies weave through the whole piece like gold and silver threads. Gavin Stephens plays and sings everything himself, displaying dexterity and confidence throughout. To pick out the best tracks would do a great disservice to this breathtaking recording. Clocking in at just under 35 minutes, it should be listened to in its entirety, every time! Gorgeous art work from Dave Houssart completes this beautiful package. Any serious fan of Brian Wilson must hear this CD, and consider, perhaps, that the master may have a successor. -**********. *********Reviews of 'Angels Falling Down' the New CD by Gavin Stephens**********:Here Comes The Summer - author: Fred - A fabulous blend of everything I love.
