Born and raised on the east side of Detroit on the cold streets of the Ravendale community is where Carti Da Hustla got his street mentality and swagger from. After taking the wrong path, getting into trouble with the law and getting kicked out of Detroit Public Schools; Carti was forced to complete his high school education in a small town called Albion, Michigan. Moving to Albion would put him on the right track but would not .keep him out of the bad neighborhood he loved so much.
Carti Da Hustla grew up in a two parent home. Both of his parents were hard workers but being in an environment where making fast money was glorified, got the best of Carti and sent him down the wrong path. Along with relocating to Albion, it was music that helped save his life.
While growing up in the Davis’ residence, Carti was exposed to the music of the Isley Brothers, Al Green, The Temptations, and many other great artists from back in the day. This great music is what gave him his soulful edge and love for sampled tracks. He would later discover the music of early Hip Hop greats like Run DMC, LL Cool J, Big Daddy Kane, and Special Ed. Once he was in his early teens, he began to adapt to the music that described what was going on in his surroundings. These influences came from Jay Z, Tupac, Biggie, Nas, AZ, and in his own words:”You can’t forget the Bloods and the Crips”.
Everyday life is what you can expect from Carti Da Hustla’s self titled debut album. The actual release date is still pending but you can expect it soon. Carti describes his album as: “pretty much me. “My style, swag, ups and downs, good and bad, happy and sad, and the party life.” He also states: “There will be 14 or 15 tracks on the album. The album will be solid so get ready to press play and let it roll straight through. It’s definitely gonna rock!
Carti is no stranger to the studio or the stage. He has played night clubs as well as large arenas. Carti has opened for: Lil flip, Tony Yayo, Twista, the late “Proof” of D 12, and most recently; Young Jeezy and Rick Ross 6/28/08 at the Deltaplex arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has appeared on several mix tapes (Check datpiff.com/lexusblends also DJ Destiny’s unsigned hype.) and has a club banger single entitled: “Hip Roll” about to crack the charts any day now.
In Carti’s opinion, there are a lot of talented artists in the Detroit area that are being overlooked and it’s Detroit’s time to shine. He respects the hustle of local greats: Killa Kaunn, Big Herk, Stretch money, and his homie K Plus among others which are far too many to name; but right now he wants the world to focus on him as he represents his city to the fullest.
