DJ Paulie Feva has been spinning for 15 years and has earned the reputation of being one of the best in the business. From spinning in clubs all over the tri-state area to 2 major market radio stations in New York, Paulie got nicknamed "The Show Stopper" and most recently, "Mr. Saturday Night Shutdown", for holding down the longest residency in upstate NY ever! You can bet your bottom dollar then when you attend a party that Paulie Feva is spinning at, it WILL be a party from start to finish. He's a firm believer in non-stop energy, whether it's hip-hop, house, freestyle, mash-ups, classics or rock, you will hear nothing but the biggest records and he'll leave you wanting more. The crowd feeds off his energy and it shows in his music and transitioning as you see him jumping up and down in the DJ booth hyping up the crowd on the mic and getting into it with them. There are DJ's that play for themselves and there is Paulie Feva--he plays for the CROWD. He doesnt just play records....he performs. At the present time, Paulie holds down residencies at INTRIGUE NY(Matrix/Confetties) in Poughkeepsie, NY where he has been for the past 10 years on Saturday nights and at Nick's Sneaky Pete's in Albany, NY where he has been for the past 4 years on Thursday nights. The Spinning Style of DJ Paulie Feva Whether it is vinyl or digital, the talent of a DJ speaks volumes among the throngs of avid club-goers. Clubs might have a hot new look or attract the hottest looking, but when you break it down; it’s the DJ that keeps them coming back and makes their “Club Night†the best it can be. Cue in a local favorite who is spreading his wings in several markets and several states. Cue in DJ Paulie Feva. A native of Westchester, Paulie began spinning records when that is exactly what was the norm; vinyl. His older brother and cousin both were in the business and as a young kid growing up; he caught the “Feva†early on. “My first gig was in a small bar back in Westchester with a tiny dance floor,†reminisces DJ Paulie. “Back then I was carrying around crates of records and turntables. It was a trip.†Technology has brought the industry to a whole new level as the once revered records have been replaced with laptop driven music sets. “I guess you could call my style Mash Up. It’s a compilation of old school and new school and ranges from the 70’s to the 90’s,†says DJ Paulie. “Many DJs either focus on one type of music, whether it’s hip hop or rap. I like to marry all the types of music from the old school greats and drop in some fun new tracks to get everyone involved.†DJ Paulie Feva has a distinguished career spanning over 15 years and has placed him on the ones and twos with such greats as Fat Joe, Fabulous, Ludacris and LL Cool J. He has spun at many of the top high-profile clubs, including Exit in NYC, which was one of his favorite times. “Exit was a great time. There were thousands of people and tons of promoters and celebrities everywhere. They also spun my tracks on the main floor,†smiles Feva. “It was really something.†The Capital District is no stranger to his style either, as he finds his Thursday Night home at Sneaky Pete’s in Albany for Ultimate Girl’s Night Out. Sneaky’s is a local legend with an illustrious history spanning decades. Currently under new ownership, Sneaky Pete’s has brought a new look and feel to an all-time favorite. “I love spinning for 1000 people,†says Feva. “The dance floor is huge, the lighting and sound are great and the partiers have a great time with the music.†But as with most things, change is inevitable, even in the dance music industry. Trends have moved away from bigger nightclubs as being the destination hot spots for the party crowd and local bars with smaller dance floors have taken hold as a more attractive evening alternative. “It’s tough when you see most people nowadays want to go to their local bars and dance on a small floor. When I was coming up, the Super Clubs were the place to be scene, on and off the dance floor,†states Feva. “That left a lot of guys who were strictly techno out of luck. I think that’s why my style seems to fit with what most people want.†DJ Paulie Feva has also spread his music across several markets now. He has his own mix shows on K104 in Poughkeepsie, FLY92 in Albany and also Hot96 which runs in Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois. “My next step is syndication,†says Feva. “That’s really where I’m headed.†With two Clubs he is regular house favorite at, Sneaky Pete’s in Albany and Intrigue in Poughkeepsie, DJ Paulie still finds time to fit in other projects and additional bookings. “I love being busy and I love this job. If I can help out a club or and event, I’m all about it.†15 years in the business is impressive by all means, and as he approaches 30, DJ Paulie Feva has a sweet horizon of success ahead of him. With expansion into other markets and numerous opportunities available to him, be sure to keep tabs on this rising star, especially next time you’re on his dance floor.
