The San Diego Men's Chorus is San Diego's oldest and largest LGBT Arts organizaion. Since its founding in 1985, SDMC has entertained, inspired, and comforted our community through the best of times and the worst of times.
SDMC has broken ground again and again. We are the first Gay Chorus to perform at the White House (Christmas 1996); the first Gay Chorus to perform in an NFL Super Bowl (San Diego, 1996); and the first Gay Chorus to perform as mainstage entertainment aboard a major oceanliner (RSVP Vacations / Diamond Princess, 2006).
Under the new direction of former Assistant Director Jerry R. Foust, the Chorus celebrated 20 years of song in April 2006. Since that time, we have performed in the region's most beautiful concert spaces, including the Birch North Park Theatre (established 1930 and re-opened in 2005), the new Irwin M. Jacobs Concert Hall at Qualcomm, soon in newly refurbished historical landmark The Balboa Theatre in downtown San Diego (opening in January 2008).
We rehearse at All Saints' Episcopal Church adjacent to Balboa Park.SDMC is a member of the Gay & Lesbian Association of Choruses (GALA), and will be performing at the 2008 quadrennial GALA festival in Miami. SDMC is also a member of the San Diego Performing Arts League.
