About Me

Thanks for looking at my page. I'll be updating it often along with putting up some new sound clips so be sure to check back in.
Bio (from website):
Chip Henderson has been regularly performing in musical settings ranging from traditional Dixieland to chamber orchestras since making Memphis his home seven years ago. In that time he has performed formally and informally with notable musicians such as Marvin Stamm, Frank Foster, Ernie Watts, Bill Mobley, James Williams, Donald Brown, Mulgrew Miller, Alvin Fielder and George Cartwright. He has also performed with many well-known Memphis area artists such as Charlie Wood, Joyce Cobb and Herman Green.
Aside from performing with various small jazz groups and big bands in the Memphis metropolitan area, he has appeared numerous times with the Jazz Orchestra of the Delta, the IRIS Chamber Orchestra, the Memphis Symphony, the Jackson Symphony (TN), the University of Memphis Faculty Chamber Ensemble as well as various Broadway show pit orchestras (where he is often called to play tenor/ plectrum banjo, mandolin and ukulele).
He has studied privately with Charlton Johnson (formerly of the Count Basie Orchestra) as well as taken part in lessons and master classes with jazz guitar greats Calvin Newborn, Attila Zoller, Peter Leitch, Freddie Bryant and Mark Elf.
Chip currently teaches jazz guitar, jazz history and is the jazz guitar ensemble director for the University of Memphis' Jazz Studies Department.
A huge THANK YOU goes to Heritage Gutiars, Redstone Audio, and Hal Leonard Publishing for their continued support.
