Everyone shares a moment in time where a connection forms, and a need for something begins. In life; these are the rare instants were a change begins to take place, and a passion is born.
About 6 years ago in an underground club in Beirut known as B018, Dabura met progressive house for the first time, and sparks were said to be in the air. “I always knew there was something more out there for me, a darker, sexier music with soul and substance. I am so addicted now” Dabura says. He would immediately purchase his first set of decks & the next transformation began. He would spend countless hours each day with his new instruments, and friends would be thunderstruck to see his potential growing by the day.
In just a short time Dabura has received tireless praise from music enthusiasts from within the Industry. Dabura became well known for his mix CD’s and CD release parties that would sell out clubs around the metro Detroit and Windsor area. His monthly series at Bleu, first Dirty Filthy Sexy and now SWEAT are one of the longest running monthly parties to Hit Detroit. Dabura is best known for rocking high energy sets in the cities of Detroit, Cleveland, Scottsdale, Beirut, Las Vegas and Windsor, and is currently a resident at Bleu in Detroit, Boom Boom Room in Windsor, and the Pussy Cat Lounge in Scottsdale, Arizona. His reputation of editing and tweaking almost every track he plays ensures a music experience that can be found nowhere else. He has played along side DJ's such as: Dubfire, Paul Van Dyke, Robbie Rivera, Armin Van Buuren, Paul Oakenfold, Tom Novy, Sebastian Leger, Kenneth Thomas & Matthew Dekay to name a few. Dabura says, “To be a DJ is to be able to capture an audience, to move a crowd, and most importantly, if you can make one person fall in love even for just a moment, you’ve made it”. But that was not enough.
As a perfectionist, Dabura was not satisfied with simply mixing and playing edited tracks but pursued and mastered the use of LIVE effect processors like the EFX 1000 and the Korg Kaos Pad 3 used in series. Now in 2008 Dabura has designed and developed a custom built studio to take on his next experiment, production. He has quickly cultured the art applying skills he learned at the University of Michigan studying Computer and Electrical Engineering with emphasis on sound and acoustics. Dabura has now positioned himself as one of the most talented and widely known DJ’s in Detroit and surrounding cities a rising star to watch for years to come.
