Introducing Selina Hernández. Selina was born in The Bronx and raised in both the Bronx and East Harlem, where she now resides.
Selina’s style really transcends any one genre. Instead, it has elements of R&B, Hip Hop, Jazz and Pop all threaded with a Latin Flavor. With the combination of her sultry voice, compelling lyrics and dynamite beats, Selina’s sound appeals to all ages. Selina has been influenced by a diverse group of musical pioneers such as Celia Cruz, Aretha Franklin, La Lupe, Gloria Estefan, La India, Lauryn Hill, Mary J Blige and Alicia Keys. After taking a short hiatus Selina Hernández, formerly of the group Soul-Tres and later Tre-Soul is ready to embark on a bright solo career. This triple threat young woman has a background in singing, songwriting and acting. Selina has been rejuvenated by her new music and more importantly her faith. One of Selina’s goals is to create music with a message; that being self-reliant and an intelligent individual is ok, and that it is absolutely not ok to be disrespected and made to feel inferior. Besides the importance of honing her vocal skills, Selina feels the need to impact her audience with music of substance. The fresh new sound and style of this incredible young lady ranges from love ballads, heartbreaking experiences, self empowerment and good old-fashioned party songs. Selina Hernández will not be molded; her commitment to her music and ideals prevents her from conforming to a sometimes disheartening and fickle industry.Selina’s experiences so far include various performing opportunities including Soul-Café, Babalu, comedy shows, NYC Showcases and even New York City Hall where she performed with the group Soul-Tres at a ceremony honoring Latino entrepreneurs. You can catch Selina in her upcoming peformance at the TRIAD NYC on June 2, 2007 @ 7pm.
