About Me

Drummer and Latin percussionist.
Currently playing live with The Mike James Sound, The Shakedown, the Kevin Holborough Quartet, and my own band Shebeen. I also fit in freelance gigs for anyone who asks!
Previously as a kit player, timbale, bongo, or conga player I have worked with: La Gran Descarga, Apitos, Almeida Girl & Descarga, the Andrzej Baranek Trio, Mambito, Julie Edwards & Kevin Dearden, and many other lovely people.
I have worked with visiting American artists at the Motown and Northern Soul weekenders in North Wales, these include: The Miracles, The Contours, The Temptations, The Velvellettes, Lorraine Chandler, The Precisions and more - this is always a pleasure.
I teach privately, and for two schools: Bridgewater School, Worsley, and Cheadle Hulme School, Stockport. I am also a teaching mentor for undergraduate students studying at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Anyway, that's quite enough about me, how are you today?

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: I use:
Yamaha drums as they are made so well.
UFIP cymbals, after visiting the factory in August 2008 and being blown away by the sound and craftsmanship.
LP Patato model congas, old LP bongos, Meinl timbales and JCR cowbells.
I keep my kit down to essentials, as it's just little me carrying the cases!
Influences: Lots (don't we all!).

Just keeping it to 'Drumming', heroes would be Steve Gadd, Max Roach, 'Philly' Jo Jones, Grady Tate, Earl Palmer, John Bonham, Mitch Mitchell, Mark Guiliana, and Tito Puente to name a few off the top of my head.

There are some great drummers (and friends of mine) in the NorthWest of England that continue to inspire me, including: Rob Turner, Rick Weedon, Bryan Hargreaves, and Eryl Roberts.

I love to discover groovy and innovative people from all walks of life.
