Scientists from Kings College and Newcastle University have applied to the Human Fertilization and Embryology Authority for a three year license to create embryos by combining bovine and human DNA. Legislation has been drafted for this scientific research, and the U.K. House of Commons Science & Technology Committee said that it could be legal to do research on hybrid embryos, on the condition that the embryos are destroyed within 14 days.
