Saul started his musical path with the now sadly demised Chiba City Sound System back in the early 90's. The cheeky chiba chimps started playing local house parties in their home town of Coventry, " We had all been collecting music for years and there was nothing worth going to at that point in time, well nothing playing the kind of music we wanted to hear, so we set up our own sound system and started doing parties at mates houses, playing all sorts, reggae, dub, northern soul, house, techno, just good quality music." Before long the boys had to look for a venue, somewhere they could try and bring their house party vibe to a bigger place, "the West Indian Centre was the only place we could think of that would let us get away with what we wanted to do". Over the next few years the Chiba lot were playing all over, squat parties in Amsterdam, Italy, free parties up and down the country, before they rooted in London. Back in Coventry one of Saul's mates Ian, dj toka was setting up bosh, a monthly night of the deepest, finest house music where Saul was asked to come back and play " it was crazy to see the party vibe still rocking at the West Indian Centre and by that time i was needing a break from London, so for some bizarre reason i moved back to sunny Coventry". Bosh brought in some of the finest house dj's, Chris Simmonds, all the wiggle posse, Dave Mothersole, Dick "magic" johnson, Del Costa, even gave Ben Annand his first uk gig. It was here Saul was recognised for his love of soil associated house music and organic tech house.Bosh went on to become a sister label to shaboom records, ran by dj toka, putting out numerous releases of some of the best house music and being picked up by dj's such as Sneak, Nathan Coles, Derrick Carter and Rebekah. Saul is currently living in the sex city of Sheffield where he can also be found playing eclectic sets with the Two Left Feet Allstars. For contact or bookings [email protected]
