These sounds are the product of my continued fascination with the natural tones and base qualitys of various instruments. Many of which i cant even play. Ranging from casiotone keyboards to banjo's, guitars to clarinets, trumpets to human speech i plan to annually post the workings and products of my explorations into the essence of these instruments.
All these peices are recorded in my room and are pretty lo-fi production wise so you'll have to bare with me on sound quality.
I hope you find something interesting in what you hear.

The sound from this gig was recorded from the back of the room so there is some talking but over all its a good representation of myself. Turn it up, LOUD.
Thanks very much to David Float for coming down and filming this. See other films by him on

Gig Review By Dr Jonas (www.myspace.com/jonaschrist)
I arrived in good time as usual, to find the Head of Steam pretty quiet. I nipped upstairs for a tasty pint of Sam Smiths, then back down to the basement venue to find a good leaning spot. The poster for the gig told me that the support act for tonight was Richard Dawson, which is a name I've seen around the place, but I'd never heard the music of the man. However, there was an additional support act, a chap named Benn, who goes by the musical alias of ~~~. Yeah, that's right… ~~~.
~~~ is a one-man post-rock machine, playing a single "song" for his entire set, which was a drone-style noise with various subtle changes throughout. There was heavy use of record & repeat pedals, as he only played a guitar and keyboard during the allotted stage time. The very start of the set was slow and quiet with a nice build-up, which got people's attention without having to announce "I'm playing now" as many would have done. A few people moved forward to watch the performance, and a small crowd gathered… seated on the floor of the venue! This fella clearly knows his post-rock, with a good selection of influences, but without just repeating anything he's heard. I was reminded of This Will Destroy You or Bossk more than anything, but even slower and simpler than either of them. It was interesting to see how a simple keyboard note could change the sound of the overall drone considerably more than having a proper thrash at a guitar, and there was plenty of time for both to take place. I was suitably impressed anyway, and it seems everyone else was as the crowd was silent throughout, until a massive round of applause at the end of his set.
