I was born in Dallas in 1970. My mom was a brilliant natural artist with a delicate hand for pencil and ink drawings. My dad is a powerful sculptor in wood, metal and stone..primal mediums. I remember him sculpting with a chainsaw and setting his piece on fire, then putting it out for finishing.. Art had a definite danger factor for me. When I was a child our home was eccentric, almost primitive (not to mention really, really messy) Edged with intellectualism and a love of all things cultural.. It was glorious. We did things like build potato-cannons and sculpt dinosaur bones in the soil for mini "exavations", lol. I graduated from Booker T. Washington Arts Magnet high school in Dallas in 1989. I'm a sculptor now, primarily of women in terra cotta clay and bronze. They tend to show the subtle and delicate realism of my mother, and the rounded forms and sensuality of my father- but rarely nude. I also paint portraits and murals...but, well, sculpture is my true love. I lost my complex, brilliant mother to lung cancer four years ago, December 15, 2005 (and I still grieve). I have three beautiful children (if you can still call a eighteen year old daughter a "child") and am a strong believer in homeschooling. I've been vegan for fourteen years now, and a strong Christian for about the same. I have been married twice, and probably, I won't be going there again. Finally, I don't have many friends, but I love the ones that I do have, dearly. ..
