About Me

CHOC'D has been together since our days at San Jose State University in 1967...with the exception of Doug (the "D" in CHOC'D), who is the newbee: only since about 1993 or so.Back in the 60's, we were "Beggar's Opera" (Hello to John Lee, our lead singer whose whereabouts are unknown to us!) and did the usual covers of the Stones, Cream, Yardbirds, Butterfield Blues Band, Chuck Berry and more. The draft kept breaking up the group, and once we all graduated and/or were drafted, the Beggar's ceased to exist.Rex, Tracy, and Ed kept jamming from the mid-70's onwards, and one day, we saw Warren quite by accident, and reformed the group. After a short stint with a couple of women singer/keyboardists (Hi Lori and Peg!), Doug joined us and our extant lineup was finalized. We still cover much of the older rock and blues, but have added more contemporary music as well: Johnny A, John Mayer, Clapton, Metheny, some vintage Beach Boys (thanks, Jeffrey, for the inspirations), as well as some original material.Once we get some new music recorded and mixed, we'll be posting it here.
